Somerset Yard Bash II – Saturday 13th May

THE SOMERSET YARD BASH II – Saturday 13th May 2017

With the success of the Somerset Yard Bash, plans are in place for another run with different vehicles. This time, the tour starts and ends at Bath Spa.

Leg 1 – Bath Spa – Radstock

Starting at Bath Spa Railway Station at 10:00am with Rod’s of Trowbridge M460 DDE, we proceed up to Odd Down Park & Ride (postcode for sat nav BA2 8PA) for another pick up for those who wish to park their car. Parking is free and we will depart there at 10:20am.

Then we proceed to our first yard visit at Arleen Coach Hire, where we will have 10-15 minute stop before going down the road to visit CT Coaches in Radstock.

Leg 2 – Radstock Circuit

After having a few minutes at CT Coaches, we now join their Wadham bodied Dennis Dart L766 DPE* for a run to Chilcompton to visit Libra Travel. after around 10 minutes here, we jump back on the Dart for a run up to Coombend (Radstock) to see what’s in the JVA Sunseekers yard. Then it’s a short run back to CT Coaches for Leg 3.

* – It is hoped the Dennis Dart will be duplicated with Albion Victor AY 81 on this leg.

Leg 3 – Radstock – Bristol

We will now join Steve Lester’s Leyland Tiger KYA 284Y. Those who were on the Somerset Yard Bash will remember we had this up to Smith’s Coaches, but was a very short run, and this time we should get a decent run with this.
We will head up to Bristol to visit Eagle Coaches and then we will continue into the centre of Bristol dropping off at Broadmead/The Horsefair.
This will be a leg stretch/break stop for about 40 minutes, but you can also spend that time doing some photographing/spotting.

* We may have a brief visit to Centurion as we might be passing it en-route to Bristol, however we can only stop if we are running early.

Leg 4 – Bristol depot’s

We will pick you up from where we dropped you off in Broadmead with an Abus vehicle (YG02 FWB anniversary liveried Spectra requested) to visit First Bus Lawrence Hill and Hengrove depot’s. Then we will make a visit to the Abus yard (both sites).

* High viz jackets are required for the First Bus visits, HOWEVER if you do not have one, you will be able to borrow one for free on the day.

Leg 5 – Bristol – Bath Spa

Are final vehicle will be waiting at Abus to take us home. This will be Arleen’s ex-MOD Wadham bodied Leyland Tiger RIL 7643 which will drop off at Odd Down Park & Ride and Bath Spa returning no later than 18:00 (6pm)

I have estimated an 18:00 arrival at Bath, but note any traffic jams, breakdowns, problems etc may delay the arrival back at Bath.

The ticket price is just £10 per person. This includes:

– Ride’s on at least 5 different vehicles
– Visit’s to all yards advertised
– A vehicle fleet list of each operator that we are booked to visit
– A high viz jacket if you require one for the First Bus visits

Also, to promote ST Publications latest release, I will have a copy of their ‘Independent Bus & Coach Fleets South 2017‘ which you will be able to browse through, although I won’t have any available to sell, if you are interested in the book I will be giving out ST Publication’s leaflets.

Please provide your name, so I can add you to the reservations list, also please state if you are joining the tour at Bath Spa Railway Station or Odd Down Park & Ride.
